Revising My Game Plan

This week we are suppose to revise our game plan if needed and answer the following questions to help us focus on where we are with our plan.

What have you learned so far that you can apply in your instructional practice?
What goals are you still working toward?
I have learned that I need to understand and know all about the different tools and resources I plan to incorporate into my classroom. I can expect my students to engage effectively in these activities, if I can not thoroughly teach them how use them correctly. I am still working toward both my goals.

Based on the NETS-T, what new learning goals will you set for yourself? None right now.

If you are not ready to set new learning goals, how will you extend what you have learned so far? The reason I do not want to set any new goals right now, is because I need to be back in school to start implementing what I have been working in my classroom. That will not be until August. I feel that using this time to create lessons and locating resources and tools to incorporate in my classroom, is what I need to focus on now before setting any new goals. I plan on continuing to use what I am learning through both goals to help me be a better teacher.

  1. Jennifer,
I am right there with you. I do not want to set any new goals because I have not had the chance to implement these yet. I think once we are back in school we will be able to decide if there is anything we need to change. I like how you said that you need to learn about all the tools you want your students to use. It would be a disaster trying to explain how to do something when you really aren't sure yourself.

  2. Jennifer,
Like Lindsay, I am also have trouble working on the goals of my GAME plan because I need students so I am basically on hold unitl August. Summer is always a great time for us to prepare and learn new technologies that we can incorporate for the following school year.

  3. Jennifer,
I also made the same comment about not wanting to set new goals until the school year starts up again. I am actually excited about the upcoming school year and how our teaching will change through the use of our Promethean Boards. I think we will find that our students will be more engaged and our lessons will be much easier to understand.

  4. Jennifer and responders,

We cannot do anything in terms of working with students over the summer. However, one thing that you might want to try in the summer is trying to engage in an online professional learning community that fits your subject area. There are many blogs out there that can continue to provide fresh ideas leading up to the new school year. Enjoy your summer!

  5. Jennifer and others,

I am also out of school, but I am working with the Extended School Year program. I can't really work on my goals like I want to because I have to focus on IEP goals and getting everything accomplished in 16 days. However, I am taking a Smart board course with the district and I use it with the two students I am working with. So I am looking forward to implementing my goals when school starts back.

  6. Jennifer,
Using the time that you have off school to research additional technologies is a great idea to help you accomplish your goals. You may want to subscribe to some educational blogs or newsletters specific to technology.
